A new poll is going up on Monday morning and I want to hear your thoughts before I compile a list.
What is your favorite hardcore release of the 1990s? Leave your suggestions in the comments.
(ed. note - Each band only gets to have one album represented, so some feelings might get hurt. I'm sorry.)
And while we're on the subject, check out our friend Justin's blog Stuck in the Past, currently featuring the article, "5 Things I Miss About 90s Hardcore", from guest columnist Sergeant D.
I would say my favorite album of the 90's might be Earth Crisis 'Destroy The Machines'. Most likely, it is the most important straightedge album of the entire decade. That album got people involved in a lot of stuff, like straightedge and veganism.
ReplyDeleteCatharsis, Samsara gets my vote. I'm guessing Unbroken, Life. Love. Regret. will win.
ReplyDeletei didnt listen to hardcore in the 90's, since i was young and all. but heres my 2 cents worth.

Its technically all their 7" compiled but Its an album none the less
i am going with spidey. or maybe demonstrating my style.
ReplyDeleteIntegrity - Those Who Fear Tomorrow
ReplyDeleteRingowrm - The Promise is a close second.
Those Who Fear Tomorrow
ReplyDeleteFavorite 7" would have to be Ironside "Fragments Of The Last Judgement"
ReplyDeleteBut since it's probably better to name full albums for me it's "Those Who Fear Tomorrow" and then probably "Systems Overload" for a close second.
I told trevor when we were talking about this Earth crisis might technically be the winner since it really influenced a shit ton of bands but I would rather listen to For those who fear tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI say its a toss up between Destroy the machines and those who fear tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteProgression through unlearning
ReplyDeletealthough i wasn't introduced to hardcore until well after the 90's i would have to say the albums that are my favorites aside from sugar ray would have to be crossbearer, firon, content with dying, only the diehard remain, and grace. couldn't pick just one
ReplyDeletei would have to say threadbare.
ReplyDeleteEntheogen. Definitely not as key as many of the afore mentioned albums, but my favorite of the 90's. Functioning On Impatience is a close second.
ReplyDeleteBloodlet- Entheogen, Ringworm- Flatline, Damnation AD- No More Dreams of Happy Endings.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Josch.
ReplyDeleteProgression through unlearning
