NEW MUSIC REVIEW: CONVERGE - AXE TO FALL

Stream the entire album over at the bands Myspace page. It will be officially released on October 20.

With Axe To Fall, Converge moves a little farther away from their experimental side and focuses on writing short songs that still pack a mean punch. The majority of the 14 tracks are over and done in less than three minutes, however there are a few that indulge the doom and sludge of Jane Doe and the bands sister project Supermachiner. The bottom line (and this is just my personal opinion) is that I haven't cared about anything Converge has put out since the Poacher Diaries, but with Axe To Fall Converge made me remember what they're capable of when they set aside the experimentation and just focus on writing solid, heavy music. This album won me over again.
