"HIPSTER: THE END OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION"
Humorous article from Adbusters on the rise of the "hipster" and what it says about our future. Hipster: The End of Western Civilization.
Standing outside an art-party next to a neat row of locked-up fixed-gear bikes, I come across a couple girls who exemplify hipster homogeneity. I ask one of the girls if her being at an art party and wearing fake eyeglasses, leggings and a flannel shirt makes her a hipster.
“I’m not comfortable with that term,” she replies.

OBITUARY UPDATE
Obituary, the self-proclaimed Heaviest Band in the World and one of my personal favorites, has issued the following update:
"We flew from Tampa to New York to Frankfurt to Copenhagen and then to Vilnius, Lithuania to make it to the first show of this third and final leg of our European summer festival tour. We lost our luggage, equipment and Frank [Watkins, bass] on the way, but everything and everyone eventually made it. This was our first time being in Lithuania and we thank all of you that came out to the show!
"Today we are in Holland for the Zwarte Cross Festival and this should be awesome. Along with the music there is motocross and all kinds of other extreme sports going on. This is our first time playing this festival, and we have the next few days off, so we will get a chance to hang out today and party a little bit after the show.
"We will spend our next few days off in Holland before making our way to Finland for the next show. It has been a while since we were in Helsinki, so I hope you all come out to see us.
"We also have copies of the new 'Left to Die' EP with us, so I hope you grab one of those while they last!!!!!"

SLEEPING GIANT VIDEO! (AND RANDOM NEWS)
I've been slowly editing this stuff down over the past couple of weeks, and now I finally have one song from the Sleeping Giant show finished. It took three hours to upload to vimeo (damn public internet) but it's finally done and up for your viewing pleasure.
Sleeping Giant - Behold the Pale Horse from Grudge City Activities on Vimeo.
Among other things, I've just returned from Comic Con and have a ton of video that's slowly but surely coming together. I'll post it here when it's done. And as soon as I can find a quicker internet connection, more videos will be up at out Vimeo homepage. Check back. I promise they're coming.

HEY, GIVE US A HAND...
So, shows are back on the rise, people are getting stoked on local bands again, and we need an amp. If you have a line on a 2000 to 3000 watt amp for a good price(free works aswell) you should drop a line to myself or Mr. Dan "The Most" Fletcher. We could really use your help, any offered will be much appreciated.
THE STRONGARM OF THE LAW
This cop reported that the biker was weaving dangerously through traffic and ran into him. The kid spent a night in jail facing assault charges. Right.

SPEAKING OF MURPHY'S LAW
NEW YORK HARDCORE ON DONAHUE - 1986
"I don't know how a guy in a $300 suit can know anything about hardcore."
STRAIGHTEDGE BILLIONAIRES?
Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg have pooled $500 million dollars to launch a global, anti-smoking campaign.
The World Health Organization estimates that tobacco will kill up to a billion people in the 21st century, 10 times as many as it killed in the 20th.
While smoking's a bummer, I think this planet would be a lot better off with a billion or so less people crammed onto it. Call me an asshole.

RUSSIA TO BAN EMO
A new Russian law could make being an emo kid illegal in the eastern European country.
Legislation is currently being formulated in Russia to heavily regulate emo websites and ban emo and goth dress style in schools and government buildings.
The new laws are apparently being driven by fears that these "dangerous teen trends" encourage depression and suicide.

SAN DIEGO COMIC CON!
I know the majority of you could care less, but I, Trevor Hale, am holding court at the world's largest comic convention in San Diego, California this weekend.
I've got a video camera and plan on finding Glen Danzig and his super metal art booth and coercing him into an interview. I'm sure there will be other humerous/entertaing stuff happening and you'll be able to hear all about it, because I'm doing live updates on my personal blog at www.trevorhale.com, so head over and check it out all weekend.
I don't want to intrude on the Grudge City regulars that only come here for HC news, but if I find anything insanely cool I'll post it here.
Stay tuned.

NEWS FOR IDAHO DAN AND FELLOW ANGLERS
Utah Supreme Court: Use of public waterways includes streambeds - even on private land
Fishing enthusiasts are giddy over a Utah Supreme Court decision that allows the public onto streams that flow through private property.
"This is something that will just make the angling community do back flips," said Ed Kent, chair of the Utah Anglers Coalition, said of Friday's ruling.
