Philadelphia's Starkweather--one of hardcore's most underappreciated acts (except in Salt Lake)--has set the record straight regarding its influence on the modern metalcore sound.
"To be responsible in any way for the rise of metalcore is like being responsible for a dirty diaper. In all of the bastard forms of metal and hardcore that have come out over the years, metalcore is the most base and thoughtless," wrote the band on its MySpace page.
How anyone could associate this...
...with this garbage...
...is beyond me, but two things are clear: Starkweather still rules and fuck Orange County.
