So me being the nerd everyone knows me to be I've been watching the development of the new Godfather game for a while now and I have to say I'm pretty excited. After watching recent videos displaying some of the more mature content I asked myself how I thought most of you would feel about it. Personally my views on violence and sexual content in video games are intriguing when presented to a mature audience but I know a lot of people who would disagree with me. So, with that said watch the videos here and let us know how you feel on the subject in the comments section.

WANT TO BE FAMOUS?
Dee Snider, frontman of heavy metal legends TWISTED SISTER, is set to begin production on the feature film “Strangeland: Disciple” later this year, the much-anticipated follow-up to “Strangeland” (1998), which he wrote and starred in as antagonist Captain Howdy.
His partners in the project, Nehst Studios, have put out an open casting call through Screentest.biz to be a part of the film starring Snider and Robert Englund (Freddie Krueger of the “Nightmare On Elm Street” series).
“We are conducting a national casting call to find actors and extras to be in the film with Dee,” explains Nehst head Larry Meistrich. “This is the best way for people to audition. The goal of this talent search is to give aspiring actors access to participate and work on a really high-profile project.”
“It’s like a national outreach project,” explains Snider. “We will be looking for talent in the body modification and fetish world. Everywhere I go now, every guy and girl with tattoos and big holes in their ears wants to be in my movie!”
Parts of “Strangeland: Disciple” will take place in a secret society whose inhabitants party hard and strange at an aptly-named dungeon called “The Torture Garden”. “It’s a hardcore body modification and fetish scene, filled with all kinds of freaks,” Snider says of the venue. “We’re shooting for an NC-17 rating right out of the box. I want enthusiasts from all over the country to be a part of it!”

THIS IS AWESOME
Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason — to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

Now, if you'd like to learn how to make your own hilarious version of this sign, this site tells you just how to do that.

IF THE GOVERNMENT FAILS, BRING ON THE UNDERGRADS
ECOLIZER.COM Tim DeChristopher, the student who won over 22,000 acres of land at a Bureau of Land Management Auction, is on his way to purchasing the land, which was originally intended for sale to oil companies.
DeChristopher infiltrated a Bureau of Land Management auction on December 19th. Because the agency threw the auction together so hastily, he was able to get inside, grab an auction paddle and bid against the oil companies. He successfully raised the $45,000 by today in order to hold onto his claim.
While he may not be able to raise enough to cover the $1.7 million price tag for all 13 parcels of land, this down payment will let him hold onto his winnings at least until the new administration is in place, keeping it out of the hands of oil and gas companies. DeChristopher thinks “that making the down payment on the leases is the best way to protect the land until we can restore open, transparent and democratic procedures for determining the fate of valuable public lands.” Read the full story here.

KIDS NEED THEM TATTIES...
SHARON, Pa. (AP) - January 21, 2009 -- Police say a western Pennsylvania man illegally tattooed a 9-year-old boy and his 14-year-old sister.
Police say 29-year-old James Houser, of Sharon, tattooed the siblings last summer with a homemade tattoo gun. He wrote "100 percent dead" on each of the boy's arms and put a heart on the girl's leg and something illegible on her back.
Police say the children's mother found out right away, but didn't notify authorities. Instead, the boy's father, who doesn't live with the family, notified authorities recently after discovering them.
Houser isn't a licensed tattoo artist. He's charged with four counts of tattooing a minor without a parent's consent or presence.

LISTEN TO TURMOIL'S NEW SINGER
From Lambgoat.com - "We are very excited to tell you that we have our new singer, and his name is Nate 'Everybody's Favorite Band Whore' Johnson. An observant bartender submitted a video of him doing his best Turmoil karaoke at Local Moose Lodge #42 in Ossipee, NH, and he fucking nailed it. Hopefully he'll stick around for more than 6 weeks. In all honesty he contacted us, told us he has been a longtime fan and submitted a demo. He has a great voice, great presence, and most important of all he is excited about the new recording. We've been trying to keep it under wraps since November because we wanted to present the news along with a finished version of the song 'Papercuts' to let it speak for itself, but due to the fact that he lives so far in the middle of nowhere that we could only reach him via carrier pigeon, it took a little longer than we planned. Here it is, hope you dig it."

LARRY H. MILLER HAS BOTH LEGS AMPUTATED
From ESPN.com - SALT LAKE CITY -- Longtime Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller's legs were amputated 6 inches below the knee on Friday.
Jazz spokesman Jonathan Rinehart said Friday's surgery was the result of complications from Type 2 diabetes.
Rinehart said the 64-year-old Miller is recovering in a hospital.
"Larry is doing well and is expected to continue to recover in the coming weeks and months," Greg Miller, Larry Miller's son, said in a statement. The statement said Miller's family would not be releasing any details.
Rinehart said Miller was already using a wheelchair before the surgery.
On Thursday, Gov. Jon Huntsman chose Miller to chair a new commission that will look for ways to increase Utah's low voter turnout and improve ethics in government. Miller did not attend the announcement -- the reason given was that he had a hospital appointment.
In October, doctors found a bone infection and diabetic ulcers on one of Miller's feet. He had outpatient surgery.
Miller had a heart attack over the summer. Complications including kidney failure and gastrointestinal bleeding that required blood transfusions followed, keeping him in the hospital for nearly two months.
Medical problems continued, including a nine-day hospitalization for dialysis to remove excess water weight.
Miller bought a 50 percent share of the Jazz in 1985 and purchased the rest of the team a year later.
Due to his father's health, Greg Miller was selected as the CEO of the Larry H. Miller Group over the summer.
The group owns the Jazz, radio and TV stations, restaurants, car dealerships, movie theaters, advertising and finance firms, sports arenas, a race track, a movie production company, ranches, a real estate development company and a minor league baseball team.

STAR WARS - ACCORDING TO SOMEONE THAT'S NEVER SEEN IT
This has nothing to do with HC and it isn't newsworthy at all, but it might be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Some guy asked his friend to retell the plot of the original STAR WARS trilogy even though she's never actually seen it. He tapes her answer and animates the whole thing. It's hilarious and way better than Episode I, II or III. Check it out.

GIANT CHANGES NAME TO BRAVEYOUNG
From Lambgoat - North Carolina's Giant has announced that they intend to move forward under the moniker Braveyoung. The band comments:
"To avoid inevitable legal repercussions, we have decided to stop using the name Giant. Braveyoung will be the name we now collectively function under. Nothing is changing, we are still the same band, but this has been a long time coming, and we are finally confident enough to go forward with it. It's only a name."
The group will soon be releasing a 10-inch entitled 'Bloom.' Later this year, the band will also release a full-length follow-up to their 2005 debut, 'Song.' Details surrounding both releases are forthcoming.
NO FOR AN ANSWER & A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL

You probably already spent your money on Disembodied tickets, but this will probably be worth a trip, too.

EARTH CRISIS - TO THE DEATH HITS ON APRIL 21
From World Moves Fast - Century Media Records has set an April 21 North American release date (one day earlier internationally) for the new album from reunited hardcore legends EARTH CRISIS, entitled “To The Death”. The self-produced CD was recorded at Castle Recording Studios in Utica, New York and was mixed by Tue Madsen (HEAVEN SHALL BURN, DARK TRANQUILLITY, MOONSPELL, THE HAUNTED). Guitarist Scott Crouse told Revolver magazine, “We aren’t purposely trying to recapture the past, but I think we have harnessed some of the fire that set us apart from the pack early on. It’s great being able to look back on our previous work and see what aspects have stood the tests of time; not many bands have that luxury.”
EARTH CRISIS’ chugging riffs and barked declarations served as the mouthpiece of the militant vegan, straight-edge movement throughout the ’90s, detailing the ideas of animal and human liberation, drug-free living, and personal empowerment through hardcore song. This movement spawned activists who took the law into their own hands, burning down fur farms and freeing animals directly. Their vicious debut EP, “Firestorm”, was a landmark release for the hardcore scene that combined staccato, solo-free metal with barking, political, and militant vocals. The lyrics centered around the dangers of drug abuse and bringing “violence against violence” to drug dealers and those who would abuse animals: “a firestorm to purify.” Major media outlets such as CNN, CBS and MTV soon started covering EARTH CRISIS and vegan, straight-edge in general. In 1996, the band released its second full-length album, “Gomorrah’s Season Ends”, a polished and decidedly more metallic affair that produced even more anthems that became singalong worthy staples of their live performances. This exposed the band to a whole new mainstream audience.
FROM THE FRONT LINES
This is a bit of shameless self-promotion I know, but I'm up in Park City all weekend covering Sundance for Red Pulse. I'll be posting about movies I see and other random things throughout the day.
I'm just about to head in to see Sam Rockwell in MOON, so check the blog at Red Pulse if you're curious which movies you should try and see in the next week.
The fest runs until January 25, with screenings in Park City, Salt Lake (at Tower and The Broadway) and I think Ogden has some showings as well.

JUGGALOS ARE BAD AT KILLING PEOPLE
Salt Lake Tribune - A 22-year-old Juggalo gang member was convicted Wednesday of first-degree felony attempted murder for attacking a Kearns teenager with a medieval battle ax in July.
A 3rd District Court jury delivered the verdict to Scott Tyler Stapley around 7 p.m. after deliberating four hours and listening to several witnesses and closing arguments in the two-day trial.
Stapley faces five years to life in prison when he is sentenced March 20 before Judge Judith Atherton.
The case against Stapley boiled down to whether he intended to kill 17-year-old Justin Ennis in July when he assaulted the boy with a four-bladed warrior axe with a spiky ball attached, causing severe injuries to the teenager's neck and shoulder -- or if the incident met the criteria of an aggravated assault charge.
Defense attorneys claimed throughout the trial that Ennis was targeted outside his home in the early morning hours of July 29 because he supposedly passed a sexually transmitted disease to a girl one of his assailants later slept with.
