Didn't that girl from Twilight wear a Minor Threat shirt to this award show? At least Minor Threat gave us straight edge. AN gave us more pretentious hardcore kids...............which is why it's weird that I don't like AN.

Spenser... you need to bite your tongue my friend... american nightmare was one of the first bands to get hardcore out of a slump when all the good bands decided to grow up by selling out or start bullshit side projects (speaking of... anyone hear cold cave? i think it's called... it's what wes is doing now. broke my fucking heart) or break up... but i don't think you can pin pretentious hardcore kids on an... maybe ebay and record labels for limited vinyl. or my guess would be younger kids who would shell out the money for a "an" zip up hoodie like fucking the turds they were...

Didn't they grow up and sell out...and start bullshit side projects? Granted, I am probably confusing "pretension" and "intellect", because I pretty much just listen to Negative Approach and Antidote, and those dudes probably can't spell either. I didn't mean to push any buttons, just musing on shitty celebrities in hardcore apparel.

I'm prolly gonna get crucified for this but American Nightmare made absolutely no impact on my life in any way, shape or form. They could have never existed and I would be exactly the same as I am now. Negative Approach on the other hand is amazing.

Pop stars can like hardcore and buy shirts off Ebay too.

To each his own. AN/GUTG is a huge influence on me musically. And lyrically I think Wes is great... The guy pulled off singing about things that weren't so conventional in hardcore at the time.

I definitely wouldn't say AN gave us more pretentious hardcore kids... No more than bands with gimmicks/messages who want a choir to preach to. About the same thing every other band sings about.

It's hardcore, everyone sorta seems to think they're better than everyone else.

Pretension starts with calling people by their first name when you don't know them.

whoa, relax sam, the pc police don't get into town till friday. jeeez.

i'm not saying one band was more important than the other. i'm just saying american nightmare did a lot for hardcore when they first start.

and pretension also starts when for some reason you feel you're smarter than someone you have never met... spencer... shame shame.

this conversation got way off track. those two girls in the picture are silly. fuck um. they never impacted anyone's lives, i'm sure.

^I don't think you read my comments...or maybe my humor doesn't translate here. I was just making blanket statements about intellectual hardcore, something I promise I know nothing about. "I can't take this pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure!"

Haha I don't see anything particularly PC or un-PC anywhere in the discussion? Or maybe I don't get what you mean?

I was agreeing with you that of all bands, I don't think AN should be labeled as a reason so many pretentious kids exist in hardcore.

Plenty of people obviously don't like them. And that's okay.

all im gonna say is mother fucker doesn't have a hand. he kept the stump in his pocket when he sang. gaaaaaarossss

wow nate, that's relevant to their music talent... oh wait, it's not.

sam, i'm just fucking with you. this conversation has gone on too long.

spenser, you're a wild man.
