The Promise is the 1993 debut full-length from Cleveland's Ringworm. From their 1991 demo to 2009's The Venomous Grand Design, Ringworm has worked to stitch hardcore punk and vicious thrash riffing into one brutal sound.
The Promise always stood out to me because it incorporates a ton of metal darkness, but lacks that polished metal production of others attempting this sort of thing (and later Ringworm records).
