RIVERTON HATCHET MELEE OF '09

A melee that erupted between two groups at a Riverton party early Saturday escalated into a hatchet attack that left five people injured.

Salt Lake Tribune -- A 19-year-old threw a large party at 3573 W. Jameson Ave. (12040 South) while his parents were out of town for the weekend, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson.

At some point in the evening, a group of five teenagers who weren't invited to the party showed up at the house, Hutson said. The uninvited group was allowed to stay for awhile, but were eventually asked to leave.

The group did not leave quickly enough, so the party host and a group of partygoers decided to "forcibly remove" the uninvited party crashers, Hutson said.

A fight broke out and at one point someone pulled out a hatchet and began hacking at the uninvited guests, he said.

There has been no word on whether this attack was juggalo-related but we're gonna go out on a very short limb and say, "more than likely."
