SORRY FOR THE LACK OF UPDATES

We fell a little behind the past few days due to my work schedule/car troubles and Dan Fletcher being neck deep in Social Media Week in New York.

Not to mention that it's been a slow couple of days news-wise.

I'm back on track now, but Dan will probably be MIA the rest of the week. If there's anything you ever wanted to know about Social Media, he's the man with the answers.

Check out his blog for live, up-to-the-minute details of what's going on. Videos, pictures and all kinds of other good stuff going on.

We should be back to regularly scheduled posts by the end of the week.

that is the dickhead shit that keeps this city in the dark of hardcore. Terrible band? Compared to endless stream of garbage that comes out of this town? Hardly

dickhead? whats dickhead is the fact that they are refusing to play a town that would otherwise have no problem with them playing. i would have gone to that show, either way they still wouldnt be playing. any band that refuses to play a town because of rumors is a stupid band in my opinion, they have never even been here before. good riddance.

im going to have to correct you there shon, they have played here a few times, just not in the last few years. regardless, every time they play they have bad fucking attitudes about playing the show and they have ran their mouths in the past. either way who cares, that band is a whole lot of alright, id rather not have to watch them play just to support someone local doing the show. and josch, what keeps bands coming to salt lake isnt drama or beef or whatever, its because bands like that cant make the money they want here. most other bands cant afford to drive through utah just to play one show, it just doesnt make sense. especially when kids like you spend more time running their mouths on the internet instead of coming out and supporting real shows. if you want bands like these to play shows in the city why dont you start by helping the salt lake hardcore scene instead of bad mouthing it.

That's a bold statement Sias. I've spent the last decade of my life helping hardcore bands and supporting shows on the East Coast and for a good while once I moved here. For instance, at the halloween show that none of you GCA dudes showed up to, I gave Bear Trap and Product Of Waste 50 bucks for gas and lodging. It was the least I could do as Mike from BT was GG Allin for a costume. But I'm not going to frequent and support a scene where 75% of the local bands sound like someone taking a shit while trying to learn to play an Integrity album.

and there lies my point josch, you want to toot your own horn about a halloween show that was put on by people you were friends with and wasnt really promoted but you talk shit on the other kids in the hardcore community trying to do something. i could give a fuck less about what youve done on the east coast my man, im more concerned with the fact that youre talking shit about why bands dont play this city when you have no idea what you are talking about. people who want to bash other hardcore kids and their music in the same city contribute nothing to the local hardcore community. None of us 'GCA dudes' showed up to that show because we had no advance notice about the show and didnt feel like canceling plans for some ill conceived house show in the avenues. supporting hardcore shows for your select group of friends while bad mouthing the rest of the kids in this state is counter productive, and until you are ready to put in a helping hand i could give a fuck less to hear your opinion. i personally cant stand 90% of the current trends in hardcore nor the bands that perpetuate them but if i hear about a show within a few days of advance(seeing as how im a grown man with 2 jobs and night school classes to work around) i will show up to support the kids promoting it because local hardcore shows need everyone showing up and helping the bands getting on the next state. further more my man, what youve done over the past 10 years amounts to shit if you arent doing anything now. i hear that bullshit constantly, people complaining about the quality of shows now yet they contribute nothing but shit talk. then when they are called on not doing anything to better the current state of hardcore they want to talk about what they did in the past. and dont think im trying to come across as being hostel, if you feel like coming around and helping out i fully support that, but until you do dont tell me about some show you went to 4+ months ago and how you kicked the band some money. when youre showing up every show you can just to help the bands out then ill give you some credit on your decade of service.

I agree with Sias. In fact, Let Down messaged me about a year ago to set up a show while on tour with Blacklisted, Have Heart, and Ceremony. BL and HH told them they weren't going to play regardless, but that Let Down shouldn't even bother. Blacklisted said the last show they played in Salt Lake(w/rise and fall, HH, shipwreck, ceremony and meltdown at Vortex)that hardly anyone showed up. If anyone remembers, it was a decent turnout. The reason they didn't make much money was because the money that kids spent on merch was distributed among 5 of the biggest bands playing then. Its fine if they dont want to drive because they wont make money (I guess thats fine), but to deter a band that wants to play? Pretty fucking petty. Let Down still tried to play but it fell through. They dont come because it isnt financially viable. The real tragedy is that Cult Ritual werent able to set up a show here a year ago, I just found that out. Bummer.

A. That show was announced in advance on this site but then never even listed in the "Local Shows" column
B. It was a well planned out show at BOING, not in the aves

I'm not going to bother with even responding to any of that other laughable shit about trends and busy lives like it is relevant or unique. I doubt that every single Rainfest, TIH, Burning Fight, Fest, band that skips this place with good reason is wrong. I'll support the scenes where the opening bands are tolerable, even if it means driving or flying for hours.

i call bullshit on your last statement, unless you showed up last night in ogden, or show up to the reviver show on the 11th in provo or the separation on the 24th in ogden.....all the opening bands playing are "tolerable".....maybe you're in the dark of hardcore music from this town, only being exposed to shit like chelsea grin :)
you're on the internet enough to find some "tolerable" bands from here i'm sure
