IT'S LIKE 1999 ALL OVER AGAIN

Both Converge (who just finished a European Tour with Integrity) and Coalesce (Who have broken up, only to claim that they never "officially" broke up more times than Kiss) have announced plans to release new albums next year.

Converge has been steadily touring and making records since they formed in 1990. Lead singer Jake Bannon owns Deathwish Inc., and guitarist Kurt Ballou owns God City Studios, but they've still found time to put stuff out consistently for almost 20 years. (Jesus!)

The band writes: "For now, we plan on settling in at home and concentrating on writing a new album to be released sometime next year. We also planning our next DVD project as well as it's been in the works for quite some time."

Coalesce, on the other hand, formed in 1994 and was done by '99. The band put out a 7" in '95, toured on it for six weeks (!) and continued to put out a few great records. In 1998, they recorded 012:Revolution in Just Listening in completely separate sessions from each other. They've been hinting at a return for years and finally got together last year to hammer some stuff out for a 7" and DVD.

That snowballed and the band plans to release an entire album sometime in the future.

"We're happy with the first round, but we're far from finished... We feel like we've caught some great moments so far, and, if we're lucky, we'll catch a few more before it's all over. We don't expect to have anything up and ready for listening until late-fall, but we'll keep you all updated as things progress."

So there you go. Next year when you pick up both records, you can have flashbacks to pre-ordering Jane Doe on a million different colors of vinyl and getting pissed at Coalesce for the record being so good but for them having a song titled "Sometimes Selling Out is Waking Up."
