RAIN OR SHINE! -- This isn't your ordinary art gallery! On June 12th and 13th, 2009, nine teams of Salt Lake City's best artists will each be given a garage door and 18 hours to paint a masterpiece in a contest called Face Off at the Urban Gallery. The nine large-scale works of art they create will be visible for several months at Neighborhood House (1050 W. 500 S.), but the Face Off is more an event than an exhibition: it is a chance to see great artists at work. So come down on June 12 (2-8 pm) and 13 (8 am-8 pm), bring your family and friends, watch the artists in the act of creation, and then vote for the work of art that you think should win a $1000.00 audience choice award.Staff from the Utah Museum of Fine Arts and the Salt Lake Art Center will be at the Face Off to provide an opportunity for children to paint their own "garage doors." As with all 337 Project events, Face Off is free to the public.
