READY TO GO.
The Tamerlane discs are ready to go. Up River is in the works and Opened Up is on the schedule.
Hopefully a few people are actually interested in these.
I'm teaching myself how to make DVD's too, so you may see an Old News Records DVD sometime in the future. I won't promise anything though. I'm not made of money.
LIFE OF AGONY/BIOHAZARD DEC. 21st
On December 21st, Life of Agony and Biohazard will both be playing at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, NY.
I think it's safe to say that they should just bite the bullet and do a tour. I think it just makes sense.

PREACHER ALIVE AGAIN
*This is for Joe, Casey, Sias and the maybe one other person that actually gives a shit*
The Garth Ennis comic "Preacher" was optioned again, this time as a feature film and Mark Steven Johnson is nowhere near the project anymore. It's a sigh of relief from fans everywhere and a breath of fresh air as the new director is Sam Mendes.
Mendes is the director of American Beauty, Road to Perdition and Jarhead, so it's definitely a step in the right direction. Here's to hoping it's done right.
MAN ARRESTED AFTER MUMMIFYING SISTER
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) -- A Kentucky man arrested after police found the mummified remains of his disabled sister in the trunk of his car was set to appear in court Wednesday for an extradition hearing.
Timothy Allen Brown, 36, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in St. Louis on Tuesday night, said Georgetown Police Chief Greg Reeves.
The severely decomposed body of 31-year-old Penny Brown was discovered Friday after police towed the car from St. Louis to Kentucky. They had received complaints that it had been on the street for several days.
Brown has been charged with abuse or neglect of an adult, a felony in Kentucky, Reeves said. He could face additional federal charges in Kentucky for allegedly cashing his sister's disability checks, Reeves said Wednesday.
Timothy Brown signed his wheelchair-dependent sister out of a nursing home in 2006, and the remains may have been in his apartment for two years, police said. Officials have said they may not be able to determine how she died.

TAMERLANE CD'S ARE BEING PRESSED AS WE SPEAK
I dropped the discs off at the pressing plant this morning and the sleeves are ready to be picked up. I ditched the jewel cases this time around in favor of cardboard sleeves. They're easier to lug around and look a lot better, I think. This is the same CD/demo we had a year or so ago, but we ran out and I wanted to keep some in stock now that we're playing regularly again.
If the show happens this friday, I will have them with me. Unfortunately, even if the show does go on, Tamerlane will not be playing. Daryl has to make a quick trip out to DC this weekend and when he gets back we'll be focusing on the recording time we have booked next month and the Starkweather show.
If you can't make it to the show, or it we don't find a venue I'll hopefully be setting up some kind of online store within the next few weeks.
SEASON STARTS TOMORROW
First game of the year tomorrow night at home against the Denver Nuggets. Could be a good game, but Deron Williams is out with a sprained ankle and Carmelo Anthony is serving the first of his two game suspension for a DUI arrest earlier this year.
What do you think? Do the Jazz have what it takes to go all the way, or are they destined to be forever "almost there"?

COA NEWS
From Colin:
here is some news…
COA will have new merch up @
Missionmerch.com
ShopShogun.com
in the next 2 weeks.
COA / POW split 7 inch will be out in the first couple weeks of January
COA “Pain Machines” a collection. CD Format only. will be out late January
COA has alot of tracks at this point that are only available in the vinyl format. While we think this is cool, it alienates alot of listeners. Can’t jam COA in the car on the way to see COA? Can’t swell up with weights at the gym while listening to COA? Too stoned to get up and flip the record to side B? Want to buy music at the gig, but get stuck with some whack clothing? Too young to know what records are? We have also not had a CD in stores in almost 4 years, and we all know how big the record section is at your local “record” store. While the avid COA listener will recognize all these songs, this record is designed to broaden our fan base and connect with the kid in the army jacket, red laces in workbooks, and a magic marker white t shirt, after all everyone in the band has been this kid at some point.
This CD will be a collection of the Snitch tracks, our song from the 7 inch comp “Our City Is Burning” on RVR, the Pressure, Product of Waste, & Palehorse splits (with the tracks labeled correctly) minus the cover songs & our set recorded live at fallen friends last year.
We have 4 or 5 new tunes written for an LP that will see the light of day hopefully for next summer.
we have gigs coming up
NOV 2 with Palehorse in CT
NOV 22 in Brockton at Fallen Friends
DEC 6 @ Tufts University
We are also going to play western MASS as Shoot to Kill’s CD Release party.
There is also an Albany gig in the works.
If you live in New England and want to book COA, we are looking to do weekends not weekdays, we are looking to get between 175-200 bucks, and if you are lucky we will let POW cram in our van (if you are very lucky)
Hit me up @ COAbooking@Gmail.com
Lastly, if you ordered something off COAKILLS.com and didn’t receive anything, hit me up at the address too and we will see what works out.

NARROWS 7" - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Narrows - Rob Moran (Unbroken), Ryan Frederiksen (These Arms are Snakes) and Dave Verellen (Botch) have started a new band and they are currently gearing up to release their debut full-length on Deathwish Inc. They recently put out a 7"/EP with three tracks on it and they are some of the best songs I've heard in a while. Check out their Myspace page and see for yourself.
RIVAL SCHOOLS INTERVIEW
There's an awesome interview with Walter and Sammy from Rival Schools over at Brooklyn Vegan. They touch on pretty much everything from the Gorilla Biscuits reunion (done it), a Quicksand reunion (probably never going to happen) and a Project X reunion (totally happening).
Head over here to check it out.
ANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT
Anyone else into this? Or did everyone stop watching when Boston lost?
UPDATE: When the fuck did 'God Bless America' replace the 7th inning stretch and who the hell approved that?

WOMAN KILLS MAN THAT TRIED TO RAPE HER
"Woman walks through market holding severed head of man who tried to rape her"
Crowds in a busy market fled in terror as a woman walked among them holding aloft the severed head of a man who had attacked her.
Covered in blood, she held the head high like a trophy, said police - her way of showing that she had delivered her own kind of justice to her attacker.
The gruesome scene was played out in Makkapurva village, 170 miles south east of the Indian city of Lucknow, where, last night, the woman was being held behind bars.
According to police officer Ram Bharose, the unnamed 35-year-old woman had sliced off the man's head with a sickle she had been using to cut grass near her village.
'She was getting grass for her cattle when the man came up from behind her and tried to sexually assault her,' said Mr Bharose.
'In a bid to save her dignity, she turned on him and during a struggle managed to chop off his head with the sickle.
'We have no doubts about her story because she had bite marks on her neck and cheek when the man tried to take advantage of her sexually.'
So determined was the woman to show that she had beaten off her attacker, who she claimed had been stalking her for three months, that she decided to take his head immediately to the local market.
'She put the head on parade,' said Mr Bharose. 'She walked right through all the crowds who were buying their vegetables, holding the head up high.
'All her clothes were covered in blood, but as far as she was concerned that didn't matter. She just wanted to make a point and she definitely succeeded in doing that.
'Everybody scattered. It was a very terrifying sight.' Mr Bharose said the woman had no regrets about her actions.
'We have to follow the letter of the law and although she says she acted in self defence she will probably be charged with culpable homicide,' said the police officer.

DEATHWISH INC. HOLDS NOTHING BACK
PRE-ORDER THE NEW TRIPLE GATEFOLD, TRAP THEM LP NOW
From Deathwish: Once again engineered by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios, "Seizures In Barren Praise" shows Trap Them at their most vicious. Having mastered their art of aural bludgeoning, the album musically rips, stomps, and claws forth with rabid emotion. All of this a fitting backdrop to Ryan Mckenney's lyrical stories of depression and pain.

AGAINST ME! CANCELS SLC SHOW TONIGHT
Add Against Me! to the list of bands that have been terrorized by ice on I-80. They hit a patch of it early this morning, and their bus crashed. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the trailer with all their equipment in it is a different story. Sorry if you were looking forward to the show tonight, but it's a no go.

TONY ERBA TALKS CLEVELAND HARDCORE HISTORY
DoubleXCross Webzine has posted an interesting two part history of Cleveland Hardcore by Tony Erba of Face Value. For some background on bands like Confront, Integrity and Ringworm, check it out.
Our biggest show was opening for WARZONE, Confront and Domestic Crisis at September's in Bedford Hts in August '87. There was a room in the back that was the owner's taxidermy trophy room. Warzone apparently trashed it, we got the blame, and that was it for ever getting booked THERE again. Also at that show, some skin was picking on Jay Kuebler, the most posi, sweet kid you'd ever wanna meet, drummer from Confront that weighed 90 lbs soaking wet. Steve Murad AKA 'Mean Steve' put his motorcycle helmet on and headbutted the skin and destroyed him.
While you're at it, read everything this blog has to offer. It's all amazing.

BUY DAVE MUSTAINE'S BULLET BELT
From Blabbermouth.net: Up for auction at the MEGADETH eBay store is the bullet belt (see photos below) that MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine wore on tour and various video shoots, including the classic "Holy Wars". According to a posting on the MEGADETH web site, "the belt is made from polished .223 ammo and is not live 'so do not use it in a fire fight because you will lose.' The belt can be shortened if needed. When Dave would start a tour it would be one size and by the end of the tour it would have to be taken down in size due to weight loss. Belt is not signed as it is hard to sign a bullet."

MAMALUKE TV
"Italian or Italian-American slang for someone who did something foolish or silly. Usually aimed at males, and usually not in an overly hostile manner. More a term to use with a friend or family member in a teasing way that may also be a veiled insult against their manhood. When a father calls his son a mamaluke, the word is often followed by a swift palm-smack against the back of the head."

HAPPY EDGE DAY SALT LAKE CITY
"National Edge Day, or simply Edge Day, is an unofficial holiday recognized by members of the straight edge subculture on October 17. The first annual National Edge Day was celebrated on October 17, 1999 at the final Ten Yard Fight concert at the nightclub Karma in Boston, Massachusetts. The concert also featured the bands Bane, In My Eyes, Fastbreak, Reach The Sky and Floorpunch."

CONNOISSEUR OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE
A couple years back, Casey, of Dogwelder/My Thoughts, From the City of Grudges Blog fame, ran a blog on his fine tastes in food and drink. Titled Connoisseur of Food and Beverage, the page chronicled Casey's adventures in dining, as well as, excellent recipes (well, recipe). Between July 26th of 2005 and August 4th of 2005, Casey posted 2 very top-notch entries on this blog.

JUGGALOS VS. THE RIVERTON POLICE FORCE
A pair of undercover officers say 10 to 14 club-wielding men threatened to kill them, advancing even after the officers identified themselves as Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies, according to charges filed this week in 3rd District Court.
The deputies went to a church parking lot, at 12275 S. 2700 West, on Sept. 4 after authorities received complaints that neighbors were harassing and threatening people in the parking lot, said sheriff's spokesman Levi Hughes.
A woman from a nearby house told the deputies to leave. When they didn't, a group of men in their early 20s emerged from the woman's house and ran toward the parking lot, swinging baseball bats, golf clubs and broken broomsticks, Hughes said.
They identified themselves as Juggalos, which is the nickname for fans of the painted-face rappers, Insane Clown Posse.
The men threatened to kill the two deputies, proclaiming, "No one [expletive] with the Juggalos," detectives wrote in charging documents filed Tuesday.
One of the deputies drew his gun, said he was a peace officer and ordered the attackers to drop their weapons and get onto the ground, Hughes said. The group was undeterred until the officer identified himself a second time, Hughes said.

OH, JOE THE PLUMBER
There's been a lot of talk about this guy lately—especially after the debate last night. Well, newspapers, network news anchors and journalists everywhere are digging up anything and everything available on this guy.
The facts so far:
1) Not a licensed plumber.
2) Owes the state of Ohio over a thousand dollars in back taxes.
I guess his vote will go to whichever candidate can help him with either of those little problems.
