i just want to say that im Mormon and i don't hate gay people and i support equal rights. prop 8 was a big nasty mess but it wasn't one sided, my family in San Diego was literally attacked for being Mormon even though they had all ways supported their gay friends and neighbors. as far as the movie goes it just looks like they rounded up a bunch of easy to hate asshole Mormons, and since we live in Utah we all know that's not hard to do. my point is making Mormons out to be a bunch of ignorant hatemongers is just as bad as trying to make homosexuals out to be a bunch of sex crazed deviants, it doesn't really address any of the real issues, and picking fights and calling names definitely wont break down the walls that have to come down before any real progress is made. and one more thing way are we fighting over marriage? cause most of them fail! shouldn't the focus be on ending discrimination, getting visitation rights, and shared benefits? there's there's got to be a better way to get these things then something as shaky as marriage.

Great point. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure--like any politically polarizing documentary--that this will lean a little too far to one side.

I think the bottom-line issue here is that the church has raised enormous amounts of money to promote a doctrines in the political system that restricts the rights of others.

Personally, I wish religious and political institutions could settle for a live-and-let-live approach to social issues. Sadly, that's not in their nature.

P.S. It's always such a bummer to see assumptions regarding a religion effect individual devotees.

Sorry to hear about your family's troubles.

It does appear incredibly one-sided at least from the trailer. I think it will be interesting though. I can’t believe how much this is all blowing up. I sincerely believe that it is not a collective feeling among LDS people; I know it is not, but rather those individuals who have taken it upon themselves to join this ridiculous crusade. The effort/money that has been exhausted on this matter is tragic. I don’t understand the drive to meddle with peoples’ personal lives. There is so much cruelty and injustice that is deserving of this kind attention.

I think its very easy for the makers of this documentary to place all the blame on a small misunderstood sect of Christianity. Many people dont understand it or all they know about the mormon church are cliche misconceptions made by others. What people are missing is that MANY other christian faiths don't directly support gay rights.
