JD SALINGER: 1919 - 2010
JD Salinger was another writer that was hugely influential, but in a much different way than Howard Zinn. Catcher in the Rye was his masterpiece and his only finished novel. He released numerous short stories over the years—all highly touted—but none of them ever reached the height of the story of Holden Caulfield.
Salinger lived out his remaining years in self-imposed isolation at his home in New Hampshire, but his status as one of the most influential and inspiring authors never wavered.
Time to pull out those weathered paperbacks and give them another read, and if you haven't ever read any of Salinger's work, then you've got some homework to do.
