Salt Lake Tribune -- A person was found dead in a burning car near Saltair late Friday night.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies and the Unified Fire Authority responded around 10 p.m. to a report that a vehicle was on fire just off a frontage road about two miles east of Saltair. The flames could be seen from Interstate 80, said sheriff's Sgt. Don Hutson.
Fire crews doused the flames, but the car, which appeared to be a 2001 Chevy Malibu, was still smouldering at 11:15 p.m., and the body was visible in the car, Hutson said.
The car had not crashed, Hutson said. "It appears there was a fire intentionally set to destroy the car and the person inside."
