HONOR AMONG THEIVES

Salt Lake Tribune -- A "polite" man with a gun robbed a 70-year-old Taylorsville woman in her driveway Friday afternoon.

At 12:35 p.m., the woman was leaving her home on the 4700 block of Simper Lane (3400 West) when a man drove up in an older white SUV, said Taylorsville Police Detective Shannon Bennett. The man, Bennett said, pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and told the woman to give him her money.

She refused and headed back into her house. According to the police, the man appeared to drive away, but when the woman had trouble with the door, he stopped the car and followed her into the house. He told her that he just wanted her money, and she handed him $40 in cash. He drove away.

The woman was not hurt, and said the man was "very polite," Bennett said. He is about 6-foot tall, thin, in mid-20s, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
