REPO MAN SEQUEL IN PRODUCTION

PunkNews -- After more than two decades, director Alex Cox is set to produce an official film sequel to his 1984 anarchic punk film, Repo Man. According to this report, filming will begin next month on Repo Chick, which will unfold against the background of the credit crunch and the subprime mortgage crisis in the US, where repossessions of homes, cars and other forms of property is at a new high.

The original 1984 film told the story of Otto, a repossession man who goes in search for a mysterious Chevy Malibu carrying a high value package which was taken from a government lab and has strange effects on anyone who views it. Along with a nihilistic world view throughout the film, the movie was beloved for it's soundtrack, which many thought of as a definitive cross-section of LA punk rock at the time.

Songs on the soundtrack included favorites by Iggy Pop, Suicidal Tendencies, Black Flag, The Plugz Circle Jerks. No word on who will make up the new soundtrack.
