REGARDING STARKWEATHER

We've devised a "NOT INVITED TO THE SHOW" list. If you are a fun hater that doesn't think it is going to happen, your name will be added to the list and you will be denied entry at the door.

Tom Misiewicz
Joe Jackson
Shon Murdock

...are the names on the list already. To the three of you I say this - I will take your names off if you stop being fun-haters, spoilers, Debbie Downers or whatever the hell else you want to call it. This show will happen.

QUIT BEING DOWNERS AND GET STOKED!!!!

P.S. Formal apologies and flip-flopping accepted.

P.P.S Courtesy of Todd Starkweather:
Hey, It's Todd from Starkweather. We've cancelled about 3 shows in over 18 years, usually due to limbs almost being severed, hospitalizations, etc. We're playing an hour and a half set of mostly older material from Crossbearer, Into The Wire, and Croatoan. There's absolutely no possibility of us not playing other than death or miserable airline troubles. I'll find the set list and put it up on here when I find it. We'll see you in December.

Set List:

1. Bitter Frost
2. Rift
3. Machine Rhythm
4. Inducing Motion (Tapping Intro)
5/6. Lazarus--->Divine Art
7. Taming Leeches
8. Epiphany
9. Mean Streets
10. Big Mama
11. Silken Garrote
12. Above The Rafters
13. The Song Who's Name Shall Not Be Spoken (Murder)

I have been hurt by this hope of seeing Starkweather in the past, it cut me deep and these wounds have not yet healed. Being the stubborn prick I am, I cannot waiver in my previous statement that I'll believe it when I see it. But I will be waiting with my fingers crossed that they do come, if its any consolation.
Thank you,
Sincerely
Joe (You call that an apology you asshole?) Jackson

This is the first time we've ever been booked in SLC, Joe. 3 cancellations in 18 years. Once when our drummer shot a piece of metal into his eye at work, once when he almost severed his thumb, and once when I was in and out of the hospital with Lyme disease. We're the retards that would drive to Boston for a Sunday and not even get paid gas money (when gas was cheap!) and then drive straight to work on a loading dock. We honor our commitments so please don't sweat it. Trust me, I wouldn't have bothered relearning songs we haven't played in 10 years for nothing. The only reason we're digging out the old stuff is because we feel an obligation to give you guys your moneys worth. The set is an hour and a half. Trust me, you'll want us to stop playing long before that!

STARKWEATHER WILL BE IN SALT LAKE ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5 AND LEAVE SUNDAY DECEMBER 7. FUCK YEAH.

This is gonna be great!

joes' apology was much better than mine. but if i would have seen his first then i would have made mine better. i forgot this was a competetion of who could have the best apology. but for what its worth. i do feal really bad that i went ahead and stated that starkweather would bail. i have been wanting them to play in salt lake for the longest time now. and if i remember correctly i sent them three messages to come play here in salt lake over the past year. i really am sorry that i doubted such a good band. its just that 2 or 3 bands have already bailed on shows now. and even though they are nothing close to as good as starkweather, i let me anger get the best of me.

sorry

Shon, I'm hoping you guys are just fucking around apologizing. Sarcasm doesn't always come across well in print. The reason we've always had a tough time getting out there is work schedules and a drummer that has 2 kids and works 8 million hours a week. We've always wanted to come out and it's finally happening. We NEVER play old songs anymore and we're busting out all of the stuff we think you guys will like.

I tthink we need to have a 'countdown to December 6th' calendar. Like I said before, the only things that will keep us from this show are death or travel disasters.

As a band that pretty much hates to play live, we're really fucking excited to get out there. I can't remember a single show since we got home from Europe that I felt like leaving the house for until this came up. We'll have tons of merch and a couple boxes of Croatoan cds.

i can open and honestly say that our band is more than honored to be opening for starkweather and by that date we will have our new songs recorded and hopefully have a taste of them on some cd's we'll hand out at the show including new merch and stickers. we really should get a countdown clock to the day. this is going to possibly be the most epic performance i could ever experience.

i have a few things to say...

1.i realize that the blog was sarcastic, but i still apologized because i felt bad of accusing the good guys in starkweather of not coming out. i felt like i had peronally attacked you guys.

2.i am straight up buying some merch.

3.i hurd some LCE (b's up) kids are coming to the show.......wont that be fun.

I don't know what "LCE" or "(b's up)" means, but if anyone starts any stupid drama over "territory" or some other bullshit like that and jeopardizes the show, I will personally drag each and every person involved out of that venue kick your ass to the curb.

Awesome James said...

(Starkweather) I know for a fact, that this will be an amazing night for both parties. One to remember cause I don't know if we'll ever see you guys play again.

(Shon) Those guys are still around?

(Trevor) I for one will not ruin the show.

toddstarkweather said...

I'd rather not see a brawl but if it happens it will bring back fun memories of the shows we used to plaly with bands like All Out War, Merauder, etc where the shows ended up in complete fucking riots. At least let us get through most of the set and don't come near my guitars!

Shon, come up and say hello. I'll be the old miserable dude with the guitar.

We rehearsed on Saturday night and hammered out Mean Streets and Above The Rafters for anyone that cares. We're looking forward to finally get out there. There are 2 things to live for in the near future: studio in October, SLC in December.

(trevor): LCE or b's up are south jordan kids (some of them play in killer b's). i hurd last week that the "violence family" got in a brawl with them and so now tensions are high (but i could have hurd wrong). and im sure some VF kids are coming to the show. i honestly do not care for the stupid drama over territory that these kids dont even own so dont expect me to be a part of anything. but once again i could have hurd wrong.

(awesome james): i hurd they died out but once killer b's started up they came back.

(Todd): i will definatley come and say hi if you remember me!

Awesome James said...

Huh you see I'm not exactly BFF's with the kids from violence but I'll put all tensions aside so I can hear starkweather. I don't think there'll be really anything til after, I mean, really, I thought the earth crisis show in logan was going to be over before firestorm but I guess everybody really wanted to see earth crisis, and I hope everybody else really wants to see Starkweather.

This crew shit is fucking stupid.

99% of the people at the Starkweather show will be the same 99% that are at every show: grown ups who don't know or care about this LCE-Violence-East-Coast-West-Coast-Jets-vs.-Sharks childishness.

Please keep this website (and the hardcore scene) free of your immature, high school nonsense.

To anyone who thinks they're going to live out some overly dramatic, Westside Story crew drama at a hardcore show in Salt Lake City... you've got another thing coming.

Anonymous said...

dan fletcher knows his shit. but the thing is all of the guys in lce and violence are the age of 19-28. violence has only one member that is in high school. but anyways i absolutley agree with dan this bullshit is noncense and it needs to stop. who gives a shit what school you go to or where you live. 90% of these krews started after that whole bring it down drama that happend a while back. and the funny thing is none of these kids had nothing to do with it. yet they start these "gangs" and rep cities and probablly dont even know who the mayor for that city is. we all live in the salt lake valley....that should be good enough.

Dan Fletcher said...

Shon,

Please stop talking about this on this website. It's a waste of time and it only proliferates this sort of nonsense.

Todd,

just hear me out.
i know the song was hacked up for parts and put into different songs, but i really want to hear "One More Time For Eternity" LIVE. i know it may never happen.... but you guys should at least consider re-writing it for a future record, so more people can hear that song. Rennie told me he didn't like that song, but it's fucking amazing.

also, i remember sitting around with a few people writing a letter to Rennie sometime around '91 or '92 to come play SLC. that was before i even knew what the internet was.

anyway, i can't wait for this show, it's been a long time waiting.

thanks to everybody in Starkweather for willing to come out to the middle of nowhere and play.

-Troy.

PS
Above the Rafters and Bitterfrost are my all time favorite Starkweather songs.

also, if there's room for MAINLINE... then HOLY FUCK!

-Troy

Anonymous said...

sorry dan, those were not my intentions.

Dan Fletcher said...

No worries.

Awesome James said...

...but on the brightside, starkweather will probably have record merch sales.

toddstarkweather said...

Troy, The song 'One More Time' was bastardized into 'The Divine Art...' which we're playing. I tried to figure out how to play Mainline but couldn't remember the guitar parts. Sorry about that.

About us playing out there...it's not that we're willing to do it, it's something we've wanted to do for a really fucking long time., even back before some of you nuts came to see us at CB's, and it's finally happening. Because of jobs, family commitments, illness, we've never been able to put it together.

You guys can sort out your differences, it's none of my business and I honestly don't care, but please let us get through at least half of our set before this thing gets shitcanned. I'll be spending about $500 on flight cases for my gear, hours learning songs we haven't played in a long time (which means shelving the rehearsal of new songs for a while) and I'm looking forward to meeting the cool dudes that rolled the dice on us. Remember, give me at least half a set before you start killing each other. Thanks.
